属は，分類学的な整理が行われないまま，現在も多系統群として認識されている。また，他の種のレベルでも，属は特定されながら種が同定されていない生物株が多数存在しており，やはり整理も十分とはいえない状況である。そこで本研究では，ヤブレツボカビ科の属と種を対象に，形質と系統関係を総合的に考慮した分類学的な整理を行うことを目的とし，多系統群を形成しているThraustochytrium 属の属レベルの分類，およびAurantiochytrium 属内の種レベルの分類学的な検討を行った。\nThraustochytrium 属の分類については，まず，基準種であるT. proliferumについて，より詳細な形態形質の把握と分子系統学的位置の把握をするため，タイプ産地などから分離株の確立を目指したが，基準種と同定できる株は分離できなかった。そこで２番目に記載されたT. globosumを対象に，基準種の記載された形質に基づいて，分類学的な考察を行った。その結果，原基体の有無や，遊走細胞の形成様式などの形質が，基準種とは明確に異なり，他の属と同程度の形質の違いによって区別されることから，新属Monorhizochytriumを設立した。\nまた，Aurantiochytrium 属の分類については，タイプ産地から分離した株からAurantio¬chytrium
