| 内容記述 | ニーチェは『道徳外の意味における真理と虚偽』の中で、使い古され擦り切れた硬貨は、もはや貨幣ではなく金属片であるというメタファーを提示している。真理（趣意）の概念が使い古された貨幣（媒体）に結び付けられるには根拠が必要であり、その根拠を示すため本論文では経済理論における貨幣の4つの機能（交換、価値貯蔵、価値尺度、支払い）を言語と真理に適用し、それらがどのように関連し、この斬新なメタファーを表現・理解できるようにするのかを探る。またニーチェによる真理の定 義、およびメタファーの概要（語源、定義、そしてアリストテレスが『弁論術』でメタファーの使用について述べた箇所）について言及する。さらに単語の意味の可変性について、イアン・フレミングの小説『カジノ・ロワイヤル』を例に挙げて説明し、クーンが提唱したパラダイムシフトの概念においては、ギリシャ、ニュートン、アインシュタインの科学理論を参照して議論を展開する。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Nietzsche in his essay On Truth and Lying in a Non-Moral Sense gives the linguistic metaphor of truth being a worn-down, effaced coin that no longer is a coin, but a piece of metal. The notion of truth (tenor) being linked to an effaced coin (vehicle) requires a ground. To establish the ground I apply the four functions of money in economic theory (medium of exchange, store of value, unit of account, and standard of deferred payment) to language and truth to explore how they are related and which enable this novel metaphor to be stated and understood. Nietzsche’s definition of truth is given together with a brief overview of metaphor (etymology, definitions, and Aristotle’s comments on using metaphor given in the Rhetoric). The notion of word meaning variability is illustrated by an example from Ian Fleming’s novel Casino Royale and Kuhn’s notion of paradigm shifts is discussed with reference to Greek, Newtonian, and Einsteinian scientific theories. | |||||
