Here, it is important for students to be exposed to numerous situations that link mathematics to real life in order to sensitize them to the usefulness of mathematics. However, even university students (especially those in their early years) are rarely exposed to such situations, and many of them are not motivated to learn mathematics because they are stuck in the mere task of solving computational problems and do not realize the usefulness of mathematics. In this paper, we report on the results of a follow-up practice for students in the third grade and above in our department, in which mathematical modeling and experiments were conducted based on Fukao’s previous study.
