Wave forms given by the first 16 milliseconds of sound /k/ are taken as samples. By this analysis sounds /k/ are found to have two peaks in frequency spectrum. The first peak is detected at 1, 500〜3, 000Hz, and the second is at around 4, 000Hz. It was found that native speakers of English make the same first peak at 2, 500〜3, 000Hz for /k/s in 'shaken', 'came', 'market', 'dark', 'Capitol', and at around 1, 500Hz for /k/ in 'cloudy'. Japanese are found to have the first peak at 2, 500〜3, 000Hz for /k/s in 'came', 'market' and 'Capitol', but at around 1, 500Hz for /k/s in 'shaken', 'dark', and 'cloudy'.
